Emergency Physician of the Year Award Recipient (Quebec-Urban)

Dr. Matthieu Vincent

Dr. Matthieu Vincent is an emergency physician at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne and a pediatric emergency physician at CHU Sainte-Justine. Double-certified in Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, he is widely recognized across Quebec as a clinician, educator, and knowledge translation leader. He serves on the board of the Association des médecins d’urgence du Québec (AMUQ), is Quebec lead for TREKK (Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids), and has dedicated much of his career to improving pediatric emergency care, resuscitation education, and the dissemination of evidence-based practice.

Dr. Vincent has had a profound impact on emergency medicine through education and system leadership. He chaired the scientific committee of the AMUQ annual conference for four years, reviews and helps develop provincial position statements, serves as liaison with both the Quebec Coroner’s Office and INESSS, and leads the French translation and dissemination of TREKK resources for the francophone emergency medicine community. A PALS and ATLS instructor, he regularly teaches residents, fellows, and practicing physicians, and has developed widely used educational initiatives including the Advanced Anaphylaxis Life Support (AALS) simulation program and numerous workshops on pediatric emergencies, anaphylaxis, airway management, and resuscitation.

Colleagues describe Dr. Vincent as a “living encyclopedia” whose extraordinary knowledge is matched by humility, intellectual rigor, and unwavering dedication to patients. They praise his calm leadership during critical resuscitations, his generosity with learners and colleagues, and his commitment to improving emergency care throughout Quebec. Nominators highlight not only his clinical excellence and scholarly contributions, but also his humanity and kindness, noting that he is the type of physician everyone hopes to have as a colleague, mentor, and advocate.
