Academic Section

The vision of the Academic Section is to promote high-quality emergency patient care by conducting world-leading education and research in emergency medicine. Through its four committees focused on leadership/administration, education scholarship and research, the Academic Section delivers the annual Academic Symposium as well as other initiatives. Academic Consultation Service

In order to address the variability across Canada’s academic emergency medicine departments and tap into the expertise of CAEP academic leaders, the Academic Section is providing an Academic Consultation Service. The goal of CAEP’s Academic Consultation Service is to improve emergency care of patients by enhancing academic EM at Canadian medical schools and teaching hospitals.

Academic Symposium

The Academic Symposium is hosted once every three years by the each committee to provide practical recommendations on improving EM. Each year, three panels are formed with the mandate to research their topic, create recommendations for Canadian Academic EM units and present at the Academic Symposium, and publish the recommendations in CJEM.
