POCUS in paediatric arrest: Development and evaluation of a simulation-based curriculum

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines emphasize minimizing CPR interruptions and completing pulse checks within 10 seconds. Manual pulse palpation during pediatric cardiac arrest is frequently inaccurate. POCUS can improve pulse detection accuracy, identify cardiac standstill and rule out reversible causes. No standardized curriculum exists for teaching POCUS-assisted pulse checks in pediatric resuscitation. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a structured educational program integrating POCUS into pediatric cardiac arrest, assessing pulse-check accuracy, decision time, CPR pause duration, and changes in learner confidence.
