[Toronto, ON, September 12, 2023] – The Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) is pleased to extend our appreciation to the Deputy Ministers of Health across Canada for their invitation to attend their meeting and discuss the pressing emergency department crisis across the nation.

Michael Howlett, CAEP President states:

“We deeply appreciate this opportunity to meet with the Deputy Ministers and have asked for ongoing engagement to help renew the Canadian health care system and emergency care. Canada's emergency departments have long been facing significant challenges, including overcrowding, lengthy wait times, and resource constraints.”

CAEP recognizes the critical role that the Deputy Ministers of Health can play in championing a positive way forward in emergency care. While challenges persist, we are confident that with the continued collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders, we can work towards a healthcare system that ensures timely, equitable, and high-quality emergency care for all Canadians.

CAEP remains committed to working alongside the Deputy Ministers' efforts in achieving our shared goal of providing the best possible care for patients in their time of need.
