The Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine of the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians is committed to continually improving the quality of care for pediatric patients through advocacy and by promoting recognition of the unique needs of acutely and critically ill children presenting to emergency departments across Canada.
Mission

The mission of the CAEP Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is to continually improve the quality of care for pediatric patients and to advocate for and recognize the unique needs of acutely and critically ill or injured children presenting to emergency departments in Canada.
The Section works to:

Advocate for timely and appropriate access to skilled emergency care for children across Canada.

Collaborate with Canadian and international organizations to advance knowledge, education, and research capacity in pediatric emergency medicine.

Contribute to the development of educational content that supports high-quality care for children in emergency settings.

Actively support knowledge translation (KT) and continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives in pediatric emergency medicine within CAEP.

Develop and strengthen formal partnerships with organizations such as the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) Section of Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Research Canada (PERC).

Promote advocacy efforts that address and elevate the unique healthcare needs of children.
Vision

The Section envisions a Canadian emergency care system where every child has access to high-quality, evidence-informed emergency care delivered by skilled providers who understand and champion the unique needs of pediatric patients.
