Intended Audience

The TRIK Instructor course is suitable for clinicians with experience in pediatric trauma care as attending level team leader (either PEM, surgery or PICU).

Time Commitment 

The TRIK Instructor course is a 3-hour virtual course. Once you’ve completed the instructor course, we will be notified of upcoming in-person TRIK courses where you can act as an instructor candidate during the 2-day course.

Those interested in becoming a TRIK instructor must meet the criteria set out by the TRIK Steering Committee:

• Must have participated in a TRIK provider course.

• Have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in pediatric trauma care as attending level team leader (either PEM, surgery or PICU)

• A curriculum vitae must accompany the application.

• A commitment to teach at one course per every 2 years and, whenever possible, within one year of the instructor candidate course.

• Simulation Education and Facilitation competency as evidenced by:
  A minimum of 1 yr of simulation experience.
  AND at least one of the following:
     1.  Formal Simulation Educator Instructor Certification (Accepted examples include: CHSE, simulation fellowship)
  AND/OR
     2.  *Demonstrate completion of simulation-based education course work:
        • local/national synchronous simulation course(s) AND/OR
        • self-development asynchronous online course work

• Simulcast Self Development Modules : Particularly relevant to this course are the modules on Interprofessional Education, Debriefing questions, PEARLS, and Psychological Safety.

• Coursera : Essentials in Clinical Simulation across the Health Professions : A 7 module open access course that covers the foundations of clinical simulation.
